Engaging with the local community throughout the planning process
At Barratt London and SEGRO, we believe the best developments are created when all parties, including local residents, get together and make decisions together.
We are committed to engaging with the local community at every stage of the process to design and deliver a regeneration scheme that reflects local needs and celebrates the area’s heritage.
It has been a busy year of consultation with several public exhibitions, a Community Open Day on the factory site, workshops and meetings. This has given the chance to hear feedback from the local community and to ensure that the final proposals reflect local aspirations and needs.
We recently held our final public exhibition which showed the final plans that have been shaped by the helpful feedback received through consultation.
A planning application for the plans was be submitted in May 2017. The London Borough of Hillingdon will now formally consult the community on the proposals before making a decision on the planning application.
Final Public Exhibition – 16 May 2017
On 16 May 2017 we held our final public exhibition which showed the final proposals to be submitted to the London Borough of Hillingdon. Almost 100 people joined us to view the plans and speak to members of the project team. If you were unable to attend please take a look at the materials on display by clicking here.
Public Exhibition – 29 and 30 November 2016
Last year, Barratt London and SEGRO formed a partnership to develop the old Nestle factory site and deliver an exciting mixed-use development.
We held a Community Open Day for the site in June 2016 and received useful feedback from the local residents. This helped us in preparing the proposals for the site.
To update the community on the evolution of the proposals, we held a public consultation event on 29 and 30 November 2016 at the Hayes and Harlington Community Centre. This provided an opportunity for the local community to have a look at the updated proposals and provide us feedback.
Community Open Day – Saturday 18 June 2016
A Community Open Day was held on Saturday 18 June 2016 on the former Nestlé Factory site.
Barratt London and SEGRO invited the local community to the Open Day to meet the project team and comment on the initial vision for the redevelopment of the site. Various family-orientated activities were also on offer, such as guided tours of the site, a bouncy castle, face painting and refreshments.
The Open Day had a strong turnout with 262 attendees, including local political and community stakeholders, and received a very positive response. It also highlighted some of the key issues that the proposals will need to consider, including housing, green space, health facilities, job opportunities, schools, traffic and congestion.

We have had a busy year of engaging with the local community and have received lots of useful feedback. As we submit the final plans, we would like to thank all who have participated during our consultation. A planning application is being submitted in May 2017 and the London Borough of Hillingdon will then formally consult on the proposals.
